AUDITION CALL
We're seeking an exceptional ensemble of 26 performers for our 2026 Edinburgh Fringe run of Edinburgh Days.
In the early 1800s Edinburgh, amidst war with France, a twisted tale of passion and betrayal unfolds in the city's darkest corners - the Grassmarket, Leith docks, and Portobello shore. Inspired by R.L. Stevenson's most notorious characters, this gothic musical explores possession, retribution, and the price of desire. From BAFTA, Olivier and Tony Award-nominated director Bob Tomson (Blood Brothers) and Edinburgh’s Brian Spence (Composer). Written and produced (Michael Ball, Dusty Springfield, Tremeloes etc.) Directed by Caroline Inglis who directed Shrek the musical to great acclaim and countless other credits that you can dee on the creatives page.
About The Show:
After a successful 2025 debut with multiple 4-star reviews, we're returning with higher ambitions – we're aiming for 5 stars. This means we need a cast that's committed to excellence, ready to rehearse rigorously, and passionate about creating something truly special.
What Makes This Different:
Nightly performances throughout the 3 weeks of the festival – develop and refine your performance over weeks, not just 2-3 shows. This is the kind of run that transforms your work.
26-strong ensemble – be part of a full company creating big, bold musical theatre
Proven material – you're not taking a punt on an untested show; audiences and critics have already responded enthusiastically
We are St Brides Theatre It’s a beautiful venue with 220 capacity, raked comfortable seating, large dressing rooms, canteen.
Press and industry attention – returning shows with strong reviews attract more coverage and casting directors
Character development – time to make bold choices, take risks, and truly inhabit your role night after night
Our 5-Star Ambition:
We're not just remounting – we're elevating. Expect intensive rehearsals, detailed direction, and a creative team obsessed with getting every moment right. If you want to be part of something genuinely ambitious, this is it.
The Practical Bit:
This is a unpaid production. But if there is any money over after costs, it will be shared evenly amongst the cast but just to warn you it is rare thing to make a profit during the Fringe.
You'll need to cover your own accommodation and living costs in Edinburgh. We know that's a significant commitment, which is why we're only interested in performers who genuinely value the artistic opportunity and extended performance experience this offers.
Specify skill requirements - The leads must be strong singers. Prior musical theatre would be of value but not essential. The ensemble will have a variety of different skills sets, Movement, singing and acting ability.
We're Casting:
7 leads and 19 ensemble.
Auditions: 12th, 13th, 14th January at St Brides Theatre, Orwell Terrace Edinburgh.
We want to make the casting process as relaxed and friendly as possible. We promise not to rush you and everyone will get a fair hearing.
